SUMMER CLASSIC
Remember all players who have pre-registered for the summer classic it will be held this Saturday (July.18th) at the Wheelhouse Pub STARTING at 2:00pm. Please show up before then. All players who are not present by the the start of the second set of blinds will be removed from play and not be allowed to enter the tournament!
For players who have not qualified or pre-registered for the Summer Classic you are still welcome to come play poker at the Wheelhouse. We will be throwing single table satellites for you to gain chips into our World Series of Poker tournament. Hope to see you all there and may the cards be with you!

EPC GOES TO THE WORLD SERIES OF POKER
Our WSOP champion Brad Quinn could not get to sleep the night of June.14th. He was too excited to be coming down to the fabulous Las Vegas to play in the World Series of Poker! This is any poker players dream! It's the equivalent of the Stanley cup of hockey....Brad arrived in Vegas on Monday June.15th and was ready to play some poker. He hopped onto a cash table right away and was feeling it. Hitting cards, making good reads and from across the room we heard some huge bluffs. He was ready for his big tournament into the WSOP the next afternoon. (He had us a little worried he was going to be hung over though…)
The big day came and Brad was ready to take home the bracelet. He walked into the room and left right and center was all the pros. One way you look and you see Negreanu, Juanda, Doyle and you turn your head the other way and you see Chan, Nguyen, Ferguson ect. Pros were everywhere! Brad started the tournament off and played amazing. He was above average stack for most of his tournament life not to mention completely out playing his first table. 2100 players started at the beginning of the day and after hours and hours later only 500 or so were left when the bad news came….POCKET 8'S!!! Brad looked down at pockets 8's and called a pre-flop raise. The flop came K 8 Q rainbow. Brad flopped his set. His opponent was first to act and raised. Brad then pushed over the top all in. The player called and Brad flipped over his set. The dealer for some unknown reason continued showing the turn and the river before his opponent flipped over his cards. After all the community cards were exposed the player stared at the board for a good two minutes before showing. Brad was definitely thinking his set was good, until the player flipped over POCKET K'S! They both flopped a set! What a cold deck not to mention one of the worst slow rolls we've ever heard! That was the hand that crushed Brad. From then on no hands came for him. Brad came in 525th place. Not too far off the money. He played exceptionally well and just got a bad beat. For the rest of the week Brad enjoyed his time in Sin City. Maybe next year Brad...well done we are so proud of you!!

NEW LOCATION!!
EPC would like to welcome it's newest addition the Walnut Grove Pub in Langley. On Wednesday we had a soft opening which went exceptionally well with lots of new faces! Walnut Grove Pub will now be every Tuesday night with registration beginning at 7:00pm. Come check it out!

EPC IS HEADING TO THE WORLD SERIES OF POKER!
EPC Poker would like to thank everyone who attended the ESOP main event on Saturday May 9th. We would especially like to thank all the Interior players who travelled a great distance to be here. All of them placed in the top 30 with Elden Hilton and Heather Auger both placing at the final table. Great job everyone!
During the first ESOP main event everyone played great but there could only be one winner. It came down to heads up between Scott Podwinski and Brad Quinn. Entering heads up Brad had the chip lead with 660,000 to Scott's 235,000. The match was back and forth with Scott stealing the chip lead twice. But in the end Brad called Scott's all in of 360,000 with AS 10H . Scott was in lead with AD JC but it didn't hold. Brad spiked a 10C on the turn for the win. This was the third time Brad has made it heads up in a major EPC tournament and this was his first win. Brad is the most decorated player in EPC history winning many monthly tournaments, dominating seasons and cashing out multiple times during EPC sponsorships and now this. Brad will be heading down to the fabulous Las Vegas for a week to represent EPC in the World Series Of Poker! Good luck Brad and we hope you bring home a bracelet!
Texas Tag Team Williams Lake
On Sunday May 24, 2009 their will be a Tag Team tournament held at Boston Pizza (Williams Lake). Click here to see how the tournament works. If you are interested in playing please pre-register with your tournament director. Registration will begin at 1:30pm and the tournament will start at 2:00pm. This is a special tournament, instead of being awarded ESOP chips the winning team will play heads up against each other for an online sponsorship. We will also be holding receipt draws that night for an online sponsorship plus other swag. Hope you all can make it out!
Battle of the Sexes (Lower Mainland)
EPC will be holding a battle of the sexes tournament on May 31, 2009 at Fresgos starting at 7:30pm. Their will be a women's tournament and a males tournament held at the same time. The winning female will play heads up with the male winner. We will see what sex is strongest when it comes to playing poker! Chips towards the ESOP main event plus gift baskets will be given out to the top male and female players. Their will not be a regular tournament for points at Fresgos this day. The Passing of Richard McKay
It is with deep sadness that we must announce Richard McKay's passing on Monday May 4,2009. Our condolences go out to Richard's wife and family. As many of you know Richard was fighting a long battle with cancer which he finally succumbed to. Richard has been a special friend of ours since we started in pub poker, and even when we started EPC Poker he was a loyal friend who just loved to find a good card game. Even in the later stages of his cancer he some how gathered the strength to make it out to many events.
Richard loved the game of Texas Holdém and accomplished a lot in our series. He was so excited to make the Final Table at the Season 7 Main Event and we had never been more proud of him.
Richard may have had an incurable disease but he also had unwavering hope and lived everyday to its fullest, never letting anything get him down. Richard never had a bad beat that some homemade dessert from his wife couldn't fix. It was things like that which made Richard a joy to play with.
During the last phone call we had with Richard before he past he wanted to make sure to thank all of you for the great games he shared with you and to wish you all good luck. We will never forget you Richard you were a great poker player but more importantly a great friend, and you will always be a part of our EPC family.
We would also like to dedicate the ESOP Main Event for the World Series of Poker in Richards's honour. Richard qualified for this event in January and was disappointed he wouldn't be able to compete. If anyone has anything to say or do please feel free to attend. We will miss you Richard!
Richard had requested no service be held and his family is respecting his wishes.

The season 8 ESOP main event is coming up quickly. It will be held on May.9.2009 at Amberjacks pub in Surrey. Registration beginning at 11:00am tournament starting at 12:00pm! This will be an all day event so get some rest the night before. The winner of this event will be on a plane and on their way to Las Vegas to play in the World Series of Poker in June!
